Christmas Giving: Blessing Bags

Cold, tired, sad and lonely. You've seen them.

Laying under the overpass as you drive by. Sitting beside the dumpster. Standing on the median with a sign asking for money.

If you've ever been in the situation where someone homeless is sitting there looking at you and you didn't know what to do, didn't have money to give them or simply didn't want to give them your money that is fine. That is where this blessing bag comes in. I have a few with me in my car at all times. All you have to do is simply toss one to someone or drop it by someone as your driving by. No talking, no contact, just a little bag of blessings.

I fill mine with basic things that fit these few categories. Something that will fill a growling tummy, something that is encouraging, common necessities, and of course for the holiday season, something that will help one get into the spirit!

Here are the items in my blessing bag.

Fill A Growling Tummy
Crackers

Encourage
A Hand Written Note
All this world needs is a little compassion. We just need to love each other for where we are, not where we've came from. Because after all you don't know what someone has been through and it isn't your place to judge. On my note I've written one of my favorite quotes and it's that "If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it." I also put the saying "God gives his biggest battles to his strongest soldiers."

Common Necessities & Hygiene

Toothbrush

Toothpaste

Hair tie
You might be thinking "what?" But a hair tie can be used for a number of things women or man. First being to tie hair back, second to hold papers together, to compensate for a broken zipper/button on pants or shirt, etc.

Socks
Simple. When is the last time you wore your socks for days, months or years without buying new or washing them? These socks could also be used as mittens during the cold weather as well. I love gifting items that can be used in more than one way.

Deodorant

Holiday Spirit
Candy Cane/Peppermint

Christmas isn't about Santa coming, receiving presents that you really didn't need or hosting Christmas parties that are really just way to stressful then they should be. It's about giving, its about sharing the love of Christ and if I can share some of my love with someone by giving them a blessing bag and wish them nothing but the best, that's what I'm going to do.

Happy Gift Giving Season. Give to those who have nothing to give.

xx, braylea
